Join Artist Mai Ide on Sunday, February 22nd for a gentle
and meditative practice of Sashiko.

What to expect:

A workshop dedicated to the mending and repairing of your garment, body, and mind.

Participants will explore the cultural significance of sashiko and its deep ties to sustainability, while also engaging in a practice of mending both garments and oneself. Through the act of repairing frayed clothing together, participants are invited to reflect on personal experiences of brokenness or trauma, and to discover new ways of healing through shared creation.

Each participant will learn one of the traditional Sashiko patterns. After that, if they want, they may mend a personal garment with a piece of vintage Japanese cloth to use as a patch, symbolically and physically restoring what has been worn or torn. This cloth becomes more than material; it carries history and, through mending, becomes part of a new story.

Participants reclaim slow, intentional moments as they stitch, meditating on vulnerability, resilience, and connection.

Each thread carries intention: a way to care for ourselves, our garments, and the stories they hold; preserving rather than replacing.

Stay afterward for grounding, restorative refreshments
and comforting hot cocoa.
