In 1968, Barry Needham created the first paperweights to help with his muscular dystrophy. After his passing, his brother Alan improved the designs and brought them to market. Using clear polyester resin with a UV filter, Alan could embed plant specimens without damage, unlike molten glass. The round shape of the paperweights offers a captivating 360-degree view.
