Hand-woven by skilled BaTonga female artisans, this traditional calabash basket is made from locally sourced palm leaves and twigs in the Binga District of Zimbabwe. Each basket is thoughtfully crafted with a distinctive shape, honoring the gourd that inspired its design. The BaTonga tribe's history as farmers, displaced by the construction of Lake Karibu, has influenced their weaving techniques and led to their unique and revered style.
