Born and raised in Northern California, Wilderhouse shop owner Michael spent much of his youth exploring mountains, forests and coastal tide pools. Nature has served as a single muse throughout his creative career; from his early textile work and drawings to his current work in ceramics and jewelry. Through the use of sandy earth-hued clays and neutral glazes, Michael captures the beauty of the land that has held his heart for so long. Pieces are impressed and incorporated with collected shells, driftwood and gathered stones from a life of foraging – thus deepening the connection between his work and the earth that inspires it.
