Handmade in small batches by Hannah in Canal Fulton, Ohio. East York Street is named for the street where her grandparents lived. Each scent is meant to become the centerpiece of an atmosphere. They all are accompanied with a music playlist and literary musings - making each special scent a full sensory experience.
The Monastery: Much of contemplative life in a monastery centers on mystery, facing some of life's most pressing and unanwerable questions head-on. How did we get here? What is our purpose? What happens when we breathe our last, and why does it matter? Learning to live in mystery with steadfast courage and humility is the name of the game. With that in mind, I've kept the fragrance notes of this particular candle a mystery. I hope it's a nice metaphor for cultivating a practice in trusting that which we don't know, and perhaps even finding joy in the not knowing.
The Gathering Table: Designed to be the natural counterpart to The Monastery candle, The Gathering Table is meant for kinship. It’s important to light a candle for our own rituals of self-care and solitude, and it’s also important to light candles for the guests and loved ones who encircle the tables of our home. The notes of this candle are teakwood, black pine, basil, honey, tonka and caraway seed.
